Washing the Stones

I’m pulling weeds and getting ready for the 2012 Humboldt Botanical Gardens Foundation Garden Tour  this Sunday, June 24th!  Hope to see many of you from last time and to meet some new faces!!

Here I am, “washing the stones” (flagstone) in the garden walkway that rings around the labyrinth walk.  Every year, I perform this ritual to clean away the old year’s residue of dirt and grime to begin a new seasonal opening of the garden for visitors.  It takes quite awhile as there are countless stones (all laid by me) weighing a total of approximately 12 tons!

The garden is just beautiful. Through the beautiful pictures I feel like I am there. Your artistic eye is evident!!
